Financial Education · Kuala Lumpur
A measured look at your finances, at this stage of life.
Bayu Permata offers small-group financial education programmes designed for those over forty — covering household cash flow, investment foundations, and pre-retirement planning with care and without rush.
Our Programmes
Three courses. Each at its own pace.
Each programme is structured for a particular point in life — not for those in a hurry, but for those ready to pay genuine attention.
Programme 01
The Calm Starting Point
A three-week introductory programme that helps you produce a clear, considered picture of your household finances. Sessions cover present cash flow, current holdings, recurring commitments, and standing intentions — with a short writing exercise between each meeting.
- Two evening sessions per week
- Small group format with one facilitator
- Written exercises to consolidate understanding
Programme 02
Considered Investing After Forty
An eight-week investment foundations course for those approaching investing carefully for the first time at this stage of life. Topics cover asset class fundamentals, ringgit and foreign-currency holdings, the function of EPF over a long horizon, locally available unit trusts and ETFs, and reading fund cost disclosures honestly.
- Class size capped at fifteen participants
- Weekly short reading and reflection exercises
- Coverage of EPF, unit trusts, and ETFs
Programme 03
Considered Pre-Retirement Engagement
A five-month mentor-led programme for those five to ten years from retirement. Examines the full picture — EPF withdrawal strategy, supplementary savings, insurance review, healthcare cost provisioning, and the considered sequence of withdrawals across a long horizon. Monthly private sessions with a midway review and written closing summary.
- Five months, single track at a measured pace
- Monthly private mentor sessions
- Written midway review and closing summary
Why Bayu Permata
What makes our approach distinct.
We work with a specific kind of participant — one who wants to understand their own situation clearly, without pressure, and without someone else deciding how quickly they should move.
Small cohort format
Sessions remain small — never more than fifteen participants — so questions are heard and conversations stay meaningful rather than generic.
Unhurried structure
The programmes are spaced to allow each concept to settle before the next arrives. There is no rush built into the design.
Malaysian context throughout
EPF, KWSP, local unit trusts, and ringgit-denominated instruments are the reference points — not abstract international theory.
Writing-centred learning
Each programme includes written exercises that draw out the participant's own financial picture — not a template, but a personal document built in their own words.
No product sales
Bayu Permata does not sell financial products. The facilitators have no commission relationship with any fund, insurer, or investment platform.
Stage-appropriate content
The material is written for where people actually are at forty and beyond — not for recent graduates building from zero, and not for high-net-worth portfolio management.
Take the next step
Which programme suits where you are now?
We are happy to have a short conversation before you commit to anything. Write to us or call — there is no obligation attached to an initial enquiry.
Common Questions
Before you enquire.
Do I need any prior financial knowledge to join?
No. The introductory programme — The Calm Starting Point — is designed specifically for those who have not previously had a structured look at their own finances. The investment foundations course assumes only that you are curious and willing to read short assigned materials between sessions.
Are the sessions in person or online?
Group sessions for the introductory and investment foundations courses are held in person at our Jalan Klang Lama premises. The pre-retirement programme includes monthly private sessions which may be held in person or by video call, depending on what suits the participant.
What is the weekly time commitment?
The starting point programme involves two evening sessions per week, each roughly ninety minutes, plus a short writing exercise. The investment course involves one or two evenings per week with a weekly reading of moderate length. The pre-retirement programme moves at a slower monthly pace, with private sessions and written review work between meetings.
Will the facilitators recommend specific products or investments?
No. Bayu Permata does not represent any financial institution, fund house, or insurance company. The programmes are educational in character. Facilitators discuss how to evaluate and compare options, but they do not direct participants toward particular products or platforms.
How are fees paid and is there a refund policy?
Fees are paid in full before a programme begins, via bank transfer to our Maybank account. If you need to withdraw before the second session, we will refund 50% of the fee. After the second session, fees are non-refundable, though we will work to accommodate participants who face genuine unforeseen circumstances.
Can I join the investment course before completing the introductory programme?
Yes. The two courses are independent. Many participants join the investment foundations course without having attended the introductory programme. If you are unsure which to begin with, write to us with a brief account of your current situation and we will offer a straightforward view.
How is my personal financial information handled?
Written exercises remain entirely private. Participants are never asked to disclose specific figures to the group. In private sessions, information shared with the facilitator is kept in confidence. We retain only the contact details needed for programme administration, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
